Year 7 & Year 10 Parents' Evening will take place on Tuesday 21st February 2012, from 3:15pm until 6:30pm. This is the week after half term.
Tuesday, 7th February is Safer Internet Day across the world. Staff at Falinge Park High School will be working alongside pupils to highlight how to use the internet safely. More information can be found be clicking this link.
We would like to encourage all our parents to spend some time discussing and reviewing internet safety at home too. We realise this is an issue that worries many parents so you are very welcome to visit the site for yourself. It has some useful information and may help you to develop a better understanding about ways you can help your child/children to stay safe, especially if they use social networking sites, play online games, use the internet or email regularly on a computer or mobile phone.
CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) have put together a whole host of resources for parents and carers highlighting some of the possible dangers young people may encounter when surfing.

The 'Absolutely African' Workshop took place on Monday 23rd of January at 11am and involved Year 4 learners from Shawclough Community Primary School. The one and a half hour workshop involved a range of Arts and Literacy activities, including African storytelling, tribal mask making and Djembe drumming. The session took place in our library where children had access to a wide range of books on the subject. The workshop featured projected African artwork and every learner left with a special pack containing a badge, bookmark and African diorama cutout sheets. Well done to all the learners involved and thanks to the staff at Shawclough Primary School.

WELCOME
Welcome to our new look website. It tries to give a brief glimpse into the school we are so proud of.
We are a school that firmly believes in the notion of ‘personal best’. Part of this philosophy is evidenced by:
• Our last OFSTED in Autumn 2010, which graded us OUTSTANDING in:
- Core Guidance & Support
- Behaviour
- The extent to which pupils feel safe
- Social Cohesion
- Spiritual Moral & Social and Cultural Development
• Our examination results which have raised year on year to an impressive 67% 5+ A*-C in 2011
• The happy caring community which is tangible the moment you walk into the building
PERFORMING ARTS COLLEGE STATUS
We don’t all wear Lycra and body warmers here at our school, but the Performing Arts are important to us.
A grounding in Performing Arts can:
• Raise self-esteem and confidence
• Improve oracy
• Give us a sense of self knowledge and presence
As a result of this status we immerse students in an extensive range of cultural visits from theatres to dance trips.
Instrumental Music Tuition is free as part of our commitment to making the Arts accessible to all.

Dear Parent/Carer
We always ask that parents contact school as early as possible to inform us of their child’s absence from school and the reason for absence.
If a message is not received to explain the absence we will always attempt to contact parents on the telephone numbers we hold on our school system. If we are unable to speak to parents we will send out a text message. It is therefore very important that parents keep us updated with their contact details. There is also a slip to complete in the pupil planner for reporting pupil absences.
For requests for term time absence or holidays please see details below.
If you do decide to take your child on holiday/extended visit during term time their absences will be coded as unauthorised and the Education Welfare Service informed. Be aware that any pupils who have over ten days of unauthorised absence in any one term will be categorised as a “persistent absentee” and will be treated accordingly by the school and Education Welfare Service.
