If we are unable to confirm a reason for a pupil absence we will send an absence slip home with the pupil for parents to complete.  If this slip is not returned then the absence will be recorded as truancy and pupils placed in senior detention.

In the case of any medical appointments we always request that they are made out of school time.  We understand that this is not always possible so in these cases we ask that pupils attend school around their appointments.  We rarely authorise a full day of absence for a medical appointment.  

For illness it is likely that after so many days of absence we will request a note from the GP or other medical practitioner to enable us to authorise what we consider excessive odd days off or prolonged periods of absence for medical reasons.
