The Design & Technology Faculty is a forward thinking and fast moving faculty. Housed in five specialist rooms and one ICT room, the faculty is very well equipped and resourced including a range of CAD/CAM equipment.
The Design & Technology Faculty has been successful over recent years and is continually looking at new and interesting projects to engage our students and to ensure they make excellent progress. The faculty are currently working towards the Design & Technology Mark.
In Design & Technology we aim to provide a range of learning experiences in which students are able to develop their Design & Technology capabilities through combining their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding in order to create quality products.

Options at Key Stage 4
Design & Technology is very popular with our students at Key Stage 4. Students may select to study a Design & Technology subject to gain a full GCSE in the subject. Options include-
• Food Technology
• Textile Technology
• Resistant Materials
• Graphic Products
• Electronic Products
We follow the AQA examination board’s specifications for the above GCSEs.
In addition to the above GCSEs we offer a GCSE in Catering and NVQ Level 1 in Food Preparation and cooking and a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Engineering. Both of these courses are delivered in conjunction with Hopwood Hall College and have proved very popular with our students.

The faculty have trainee teachers working in the team at various times throughout the year. We currently have Mr. S. Joyce working within the team, teaching Electronics Products and Resistant Materials.
