What is Gifted and Talented? Gifted and Talented is a phrase that is used in schools to describe those pupils who have the potential to achieve at the highest levels. These are pupils who show a real talent in the various subjects that they study. The government now keeps a register of pupils who have been nominated as Gifted and Talented and their progress is monitored.
At Falinge Park High school we are lucky enough to be a part of the Excellence in Cites initiative. This means that we have the opportunity to take part in many more activities in the classroom, on visits, and working with other schools in the borough. As a school, we are constantly looking at what we do and evaluating our methods of teaching. As such, we are looking at ways to improve the experiences of our pupils in and outside the classroom. We help them to achieve their maximum potential in all areas of school life through:
• Use of new differentiate resources • Use of computer technology • Learning mentors • Increased visits to develop motivation and understanding • Working with colleges and universities to plan for the future and work with specialists • Setting realistic targets • Developing outside hours learning
Our G and T pupils are targeted to enable them to have access to all these areas so that they can achieve their best.
