O2 Dongles - Internet Access problems We are aware that a number of pupils have been having problems accessing the internet with the O2 dongles issued as part of the Computers for Pupils initiative. Each pupil has been issued with a letter from O2 to accompany the dongle. This letter contains the contact number for any queries regarding internet access problems. We have been in touch with O2 in an attempt to solve these problems. O2 have requested that all dongles be made inactive on Wednesday 3rd December to enable them to reset the Billing and Active SIM account lists on their system. They are going to reset all the sim accounts, this will make the units unusable for several hours. If you are experiencing problems, we recommend un-installing the 3G-Sierra software (using the Control Panel). Then re-install the software following the on-screen prompts which appear when you plug in the device. Your O2 dongle should then function properly. We hope that this answers any queries you may have. Thank you for your patience.
Website Filtering The 18+ filtering is not yet in place by O2. They are currently operating a "white-list" which should provide access to a approx 22,000 sites. We will keep you updated when the 18+ filtering will come into effect. In the meantime, if you have problems accessing a site which you believe should be available, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will forward your message to O2 so that the site can be added to the whitelist. Presently, unblocking is taking O2 approximately two weeks to process. Please surf safely! For more info on this click this link.
Computers for Pupils We have now finished issuing our first round of Toshiba laptops received as part of the Computers for Pupils initiative. Now that the O2 Internet Dongles have been issued to pupils, may we take this opportunity to remind you about the 'Know It All' CD which came with your laptop. This disk contains a wealth of useful information about using your computer to access the internet. There are sections on here about how to ensure your child/ren and yourself remain safe whilst communicating and shopping online. Can we also remind you about the accompanying information/guidance and the 'Home Loan Agreement' issued with your laptop as these have some sensible suggestions and conditions which ought to be followed. You can find links to copies of these documents in the menu on the left hand side of this web-page. We hope that our pupils and their families continue to find the laptops useful in learning together, at home.
Returning your laptop and other loaned equipment If your child/ren leave Falinge Park High School (and there are no other siblings attending FPHS) you must return the laptop, O2 dongle and all other accessories to the ICT office at least two weeks beforehand. All personal documents and installed applications should be backed up for your own safekeeping as these will be removed from the laptop. Please ensure that you sign and date the "Return" form.
