Opening Doors; Unlocking Potential

‘Arts for All’ Drawing and Sketching Workshop for Families, Parents and Young People

Our second Summer term ‘Arts for All’ family workshop centred around drawing and sketching as parents, friends and young people gathered to undertake some observational drawing and to try out a range of fun techniques. The session taught participants how to use the ‘five second rule’, to try out ‘air drawing’ and how to employ a range of shading techniques to create effective and eye-catching work. The workshop proved highly popular with some great feedback:

“I enjoyed spending time with my son in a school environment and I appreciated being with different people learning new things” (Parent)

“I have learnt to observe more, take my time and to try and be successful” (Student)

” I learnt to shade in different ways. It’s fun not to have to try to get it ‘right’ all the time!” (Student)

” I enjoyed everything about the drawing class!” (Parent)

Thanks to all those who came along and many thanks to Mr Lawlor for leading the session. The final ‘Arts for All’ workshop for this year centres on Aboriginal Art.
