Catch Up Pupil Premium Funding

Mr S Ward – Pupil Premium Review Team

Catch up premium (CUP) funding: Catch up premium (CUP) is Government funding allocated to schools to specifically support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standards in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2). The funding is allocated to schools for 18/19 on the basis that we receive the same amount of Year 7 catch up funding that we received in 17/18 adjusted to reflect the percentage change in the size of our Year 7 cohort (based on the October 2018 census). Schools are required to identify pupils who need extra support and determine the best way to use the funding.

We do this at Falinge Park High School by analysing Key stage 2 data and extracting a cohort of catch up premium pupils based upon those not achieving the expected levels in reading and/or maths. We also include any pupils whose Key stage 2 data in not available in order to ensure we capture all potential CUP pupils.

Catch up premium funding is rigorously monitored with the impact of our interventions being evaluated as an ongoing process throughout the academic year by our pupil premium review team Mr Simon Ward and Ms Julie Hilton.
