The Library


The library is open every break and lunch time, and also after school on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Library is also used for timetabled sessions for students in year 7 and 8 as part of their English curriculum as well a resource for other classes and groups in school.Staff are on hand to help with homework and locate resources at break and lunch time.

In the Library you'll find...
  • Over 10,000 books including fiction, non-fiction and reference as well as books in 12 other languages.

  • Careers corner with college and university prospectuses.
  • Games area including chess and scrabble.
  • Comfy seating area with sofas.

  • Has a designated team of student librarians who help out at Lunch time.
  • A ‘Computerised Accelerated Reader Programme’ targeting specific students.
  • Run trips to meet authors.
  • Has lots of competitions and regular quizzes.
Extra Curricular Activities

The English curriculum is enhanced by a number of enrichment activities: Our students are inspired by visiting writers, we organise regular theatre trips and there are extra-curricular activities available to all students.

Revision classes are also held for those preparing for GCSE examinations.

The SPIRIT project is an exciting and innovative reward programme which involves the use of iPads and geo-caching; this is used to inspire and motivate reading for pleasure.
