First World War Centenary: Battlefield Tours Programme 18th- 21st March.
To commemorate the Battle of Manchester Hill, 21st March 1918
Our two competition winners were privileged to be part of a very special Battlefield Tour Programme to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Battle of Manchester Hill, they joined 21 schools from across Greater Manchester to tour battlefield sites across Belgium and France. On the last day of our visit we were at the battle of Manchester Hill site exactly 100 years after the Battle took place and were part of a service of commemorations in the town of Francilly- Selency. We were joined by the Mayor of the town and representatives from the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment and attended a formal reception hosted by the Mayor. Along our journey we were also joined by TV crews from ITV, Granada Reports and BBC North West News.
