Digital Designer in Residence
On Monday 6th March the Year 7 students involved in the Digital Designer in Residence project took part in a printmaking workshop. During the session the students developed their digitally created designs into screen prints and block prints. They were joined by Ellie Green and Melanie Miller from Manchester Metropolitan University who assisted the students in their learning of these new skills. The artwork created in the workshop will be displayed around school and at Macclesfield Silk Museum in the coming weeks.

‘The Ladder’ February Half Term Sessions – ‘The Role of Women in the Creative and Media Industries’
F.P.H.S. students attended a two day workshop titled ‘Strong Hearts: Fierce Minds; The Role of Women in the Creative and Media Industries’ as part of their involvement in ‘The Ladder’ scheme organised by the North West Comino Creative Consortium (N.W.C.C.C.) and The Ideas Foundation. The sessions took place on Tuesday the 21st of February and Friday the 24th of February 2017 at The Shed at Manchester Metropolitan University and were led by industry specialists from the BBC and User Experience organisations. Some of the project work undertaken in the sessions was preparatory work for a profile raising campaign as part of International Women’s Day on the 8th of March 2017. Youth Speaks
Our Senior team competed in the district final of the competition at the weekend. Unfortunately they did not progress to the next round, but the competition was fierce. The team were unlucky to have time penalties that ultimately cost them the round, but their feedback from the judges’ panel was fantastic and they did us all proud!
