Our Digital Designer in Residence held a second workshop session this week for students in Year 8. The project will lead to a large mural that is to be on display in our school reception before the end of the academic year. For more details about the project, please contact Mr Rogerson.
Art Students from Year 10 enjoyed a second ‘I Am Creative’ workshop this week and the session was attended by representatives from Odeon Cinemas. The design brief that our students will complete will be presented to the national company in London next term and students are busy ensuring their presentations are of the highest quality. Mr De Courcey, Ms Herdman and Mr Ashton attended the third session of the ‘Speaking For Ourselves’ project this week and students continued to develop their creative work on identity, community and belonging. This session marks the final workshop before the production of a short film and final showcase later next term. The Year 9 learners involved in the project will soon be leading on an in-school initiative next term that will see them presenting their new knowledge and skills to staff, parents, governors and students. Year 7 Arts Award students have been asked to attend their Arts Award bronze moderation on Monday the 4th of April 2016 (the second week of the holidays) and all students will be issued with a letter before the end of term. The moderation will require a short group interview with our examiner as we discuss the great work that has been accomplished over the past two terms. Tuesday the 5th of April 2016 will provide year 11 Drama students with further written exam revision from 9.30am until 1.00pm in G5 and 6 as part of our Easter Holiday Revision programme. Tickets for our forthcoming show, ‘Scar of the Sabretooth’ which takes place on Friday 10th of June from 5.00pm until 6.30pm are now on sale and can be bought directly from school of via the CEPA Office at breaktimes, lunchtimes or after school. Tickets are priced £3.50 (no concessions) and refreshments will be served.
Year 10 Music students led a series of promotional assemblies this week for their forthcoming show, ‘Remix’. The evening performance will feature a wide range of music styles and artists and further information will be posted on our school website shortly. The regional finals for the national Spelling Bee competition will be held on Wednesday 23rd March in Manchester. The following three pupils from Year 7 will attend the final; Zakir Ahmad, Farah Khan and Nafisa Chowdhury
