Holocaust Memorial Day Friday 27th January 2017
On Friday 27th January, Year 9 students carried out a variety of workshops linked to this year’s theme of ‘How can life go on?’
The Students worked alongside primary students from All Saints Primary School and some sixth form students from Rochdale Sixth Form College to undertake some dance and art workshops linked to the various genocides which have taken place around the world. All students attended a seminar with Sam Neumann who talked about Holocaust survival. At the end of the day, parents and Year 9 students were welcome to attend a session to see the work carried out by the students during the day.
Digital Designer in Residence Project Thursday 26th January 2017
On Thursday 26th January the Year 8 students took part in the Digital Designer in Residence project and went on visit to the Rochdale Canal to participate in a dredge. The objects collected as part of the dredge will be used as a starting point for sculptures produced by the students. Once made, these sculptures will be displayed within the school grounds and will appear virtually along the canal. Visitors to the canal will be able to scan a QR code in order to view them. The main aims of this exciting and innovative project are to combine design skills with Geography knowledge and narrow the gaps between Art in school and the Creative Industries.
