The Final STEAM Event of 2018
Tuesday 26th June saw parents and pupils from Year 7 get together for the final STEAM event of the year. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths.
The first task saw the teams have to create paint filled water balloons ready for making some artwork. This proved to be a bit messier than we had originally planned!
When the teams had the right amount of balloon they attacked the prepared canvases. As they dried the teams moved onto the second challenge.
The second challenge was the now annual STEAM event of building bottle rockets. Armed with a foot pump, a range of different sized bottles, a rocket kit and a water tap the team’s were set the task of getting the rockets as high as possible. The teams had to work out which size and shape bottle was the best for this task and how much water to use. This led to a few rockets going missing in action somewhere over the dance studio.
The event was rounded off by attacking the canvases some more with paint balloons.
The hot weather helped the canvases dry quickly and when the liquid masking tape was pulled off the final artwork is nothing short of spectacular!
We would like to thank everyone who has taken part this year in the STEAM events, without your support they wouldn’t happen at all.
