Watergrove Trust Corporate and Governance Information

Please click this link to access the Watergrove Trust Governance page, where you will find information on the Board of Trustees and Key Members of Governance and Leadership.

Governors play an important role at Falinge Park High School. The school is part of the Watergrove Trust and it is independent of the local authority.

Overall responsibility for the governance of the school lay with the Board of Trustees.

Trustees delegate a significant proportion of their responsibilities to the local governing body (Academy Committee). These are outlined in the Scheme of Delegation.

Each year Trustees produce an Annual Report.

If anyone is interested in becoming a school governor or would like some additional information on the role please contact the headteacher at the school or visit our information page here.

School governors are volunteers who work together as a governing board to provide independent oversight of how the school is run, with the aim of improving the quality of education provided and raising standards.

The governing board work alongside the headteacher and senior leaders to provide strategic leadership and to ensure accountability. The board has three key functions:

  • ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff
  • overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well-spent.

Governors do not run the school on a day-to day basis; that is the responsibility of the headteacher and senior leaders.

As a school, we’re really proud of our links with local communities and partners and we’re keen to ensure that our governing board reflects this. The board is made up of parents, representatives from the local community, the headteacher and an elected staff governor. They each bring their own skills and experience to the role, but more important, they all share a passion to provide the best possible education for every pupil at the school.

The governing board meets formally once a term, but much of the detailed work is carried out at meetings of our three committees:

  • Pupil Welfare
  • Curriculum and Standards
  • Resources

Governors are usually elected to serve for a term of four years. Each year, governors elect a Chair and Vice Chair of the governing board and for each committee.
